From what I remember of my old L2500 (4+1) there was no difference between it and my current L1505 (3+2) as far as balance. Also the 4+1 version was string through bridge only. I've said it 1000 times but... wish I had never gotten rid of it.

Here are a couple I've been drooling over recently. Unfortunatley no gas funds available.
These are both beautiful. Wish I had the cash, I'd snatch one up.
Looks like this one is missing the string tree. Oh well, easy fix.

Scroll down to the 5 string section. It's the 4th one down from there.

Thanks CB - answers my question.Just going to check these basses out you've mentioned.
In your opinion (or anyone who wants to chip in their 2c worth!)how do these basses balance with those massive tuning keys.Ive owned a few Fender basses over the years and find them a little neck heavy but I am really gassing for that G&L tone. The basses I currently own are Spector,ESP and Cort (i.e. mini tuners). No chance of me ever trying one in person where I live.
Thanks in advance.

The 4+1 basses had slightly wider necks than the 3+2 along with stringing through the bridge only.

I didn't notice a difference in the neck width. Not saying it's not different just not different enough for me to notice. Also, if you think a spector balances good, you'll have no trouble with the G&L. I did notice that to me anyway the B string seems tighter on the newer models.

I had a 4+1 L-2500 for a while that was very nice. It was not string through body, though.
