L2500...rewire pups

I read about rewiring the pickups to work as inner-inner or outer-outer coils (as single coil). What would this do for the tone? I read that it sounds better...anyone do it?

I wouldn't say better, but another option. It does give a single coil sound akin to what can be obtained with a Jazz running pickups on max but with MFD meatiness.

Wondered about this for a while. Sounds intriguing, but one of my fave settings on my L2500 is neck pickup only. If I did that mod, would I get hum on just the one pickup?

If you ran the neck pickup in single coil mode, you would get 60Hz hum. But with a 3-way switch you can have all the stock settings plus the single coil.

I was messing around with my modded L2K this evening. My favorite settings were both pickups on in single coil mode, and neck pickup by itself in series with some bass cut.

Yeah, that's a setting I find very useful---kind if my "vintage" setting on the L2.5 while both pickups parallel is my "modern" setting.
This mod sounds very cool . . .
