I'm really pumped and I plan to get a new MIA L2K ordered in the next few months and have been trying to research things the best I can. I think I've come to the right place. I have spoken to a dealer and he's going to try to help me (after NAMM) with the folks at G&L but the answers may already be out there with folks like yourself who have vast experience to your credit. Please help. In short the Dream Bass would be L2K (afraid ASAT would have neck dive issues) Premium finish (clear blue) solid ash body, a #8 neck, with white binding, birdseye maple fret board, gun oil tint and laquer finish. Also hoping to get white binding on the front of the body. First question: Does anyone know if you can special order the neck finish such that the fret board is laquered (old school Fender) but the back of the neck is "satin" so as not to "grab" in sweaty conditions? Second question:My dealer "thinks" that G&L may not be able to "White bind" the body front due to the contours of the body and the stiffness of the white binding material but that they would only be able to "wood" bind. Does anyone out there know if this is in fact the case? Third question: Does anyone advise not going with a neck binding because it may limit some of the robust tonal qualities that the L2K has to offer? Fourth question: I've seen some L2K's out there that do not say "Tribute" yet appear (by their description) to have a "swamp ash" top over an American Tilia wood body...Are the new MIA L2K's all this way (slightly watered down in MPO) or if you specify "Premium" finish you are sure to still get a nice beefy paired chunk of good ol' 100% Swamp Ash? Sorry I'm so wordy here but any help on this is most appreciated. I'm really "amped" on moving forward on this but just like to be sure. :
