L2k lost it's bottom end

Hi all... this is my first post

When I first bought my L-2000, I was really happy, it's versatile, got full of punch and bottoms, and everyone compliments on how good it sounded

Then, I did the spring ping mod with my L2k, by stuffing the spring with a foam material, and I did change the strings as well with DR coated.
The next day, I took it to a rehearsal, plugged my bass in, and to my surprise, I can hear KIS FM playing through the bass amp, and it's gone only if I touched the L2k's bridge.
Not only that, the biggest issue of all, it lost most of it's bottom end.

So I took it to the repair shop, and the guy did the shielding job, the radio signal was gone, but he can't do anything about the sound, he said there was nothing wrong and it sounded okay, yet he was testing it through a small practice amp.

last week I took my L2k to a general rehearsal., the soundman said that my bass sounded hollow and there's no lows,
so I ended up borrowing my friend's jazz bass for the main event, and it sounded a lot better than my current L2k

I still love my L2k and don't want to put it's name to a shame from what it's known for (big fat punchy bottom)

I would really appreciate if anybody could help me with this issue.,

thank you

If your tech can't tell what's wrong, he's a bad tech imo.

Dead battery perhaps?

What exactly did you do when you fixed the spring ping? it's possible you pulled a pickup wire loose? Did you disconnect anything in the process?

One thing to note about coated strings is that your fingers will no longer ground any RF by touching the strings- so maybe the grounding problem existed before, but touching the strings made it go away? (and now it doesn't)

There is alot of wiring in an L2000 to screw up, so its likely just a short or a loose wire somewhere...does the bass cut pot still cut bass when you turn it? Do all the different switches still function properly? Your guitar tech probably doesn't even understand half the wiring in an L2000- its not exactly common!

Were the pups ever disconected? If both pups work independantly and sound OK but it sounds thinner when they are both on, they are wired out of phase. Easy to check with your pup selector.

that could be the cause, the p/u still works independently, the bass&treble cuts still works. but it the overall sound is thin.
I might pulled something else when I pulled the p/u. And yes, the tech who did my bass was actually an assistant to the shop's owner, I'm not really happy with his setup too.

Is there an easy way to fix this myself or should I just bring it to another tech and let them fix the problem ?

thx
