lowering action on '86 L2k?

Sign in to disble this ad
This was my first "real" bass and I love it but I really can't play it anymore because the action is so insanely high that it wears out my fingers. This weekend I did my best to lower it. I lowered the bridge as much as possible and looked into using the microtilt. Neither really worked. Any advice on what to try next?

The trussrod may need serious tweaking. Take it to a pro at this point.

if the saddles are all the way down, it needs trussrod/microtilt help.

Yep, you are proceeding in the wrong order. You do the trussrod adjustment first because it is independant of final string height. AFTER the trussrod is set, you manipulate saddleheight/microtilt.

Gotcha. I'll try that and work backwards.
