MFD pickup help

Sign in to disble this ad
hi all

I am getting an MFD pickup wired to an aftermarket Stingray preamp. There are four wires on this pickup...black, white, green and yellow. What is each wire for? The wiring diagram that came with the preamp is for a Stingray pickup, not sure if there is a huge difference but I want to make sure it's being done right. Thanks.

What you're looking at are the ends of two coils, so with a DMM and some trial and error you could figure out how they are supposed to go, but it's a lot easier finding someone who already knows how they're supposed to go.

There are two coils in the pup. The coil closest to the bridge with is the white (+) / black (-) coil. The second coil is the yellow (+) / green (-) coil.

When in parallel the yellow and white tie together as do the black and green. The black and green go to ground.

When in series, the white is the top, the black and yellow tie together, and the green goes to ground.

What kind of preamp are you using?
