If I can sell my Bongo, I should be the proud owner of this ASAT Semihollow. Been eyeing this for a while, but finally made the decision to get it. Hopefully, this works out!

Cool . . . I'm looking at the ASAT also. I currently have a Stingray that has served me well but the really thick neck is starting to bug me a little.

What do you like about the ASAT over the Bongo?

Do looks count? Add me to the list of people who think the Bongo is just plain ugly.

Hope this all works out for you 82, that's a beautiful bass.

The Bongo has the best action of any bass I've ever played, but the sound really isn't doing it for me anymore-it doesn't sound extremely natural, if you will. All of the bass' tone is in the preamp-the body wood doesn't contribute anything to the tone. Since I'm after a "woody" tone quality, this is obviously a problem, since the Bongo doesn't do it very well.

Having played a stock L-2000, which had a nice growl to it, I figure that the ASAT retains that quality, while the semi-hollow body should add a little something extra to the tone.

This particular ASAT has a mahogany body, which should warm up the tone somewhat as well.
