Hey guys. I have an 84 El Toro. Unfortunately its missing the bridge pickup. Anybody have any ideas where to
get an HB-2?. G&L doesnt want to deal with me as they only make a single coil replacement. Any help would be awesome.
Thanks in advance. |

They very, very, very seldom come up on Ebay.I doubt anyone will part with one and G&L no longer makes them.
Sorry to break this to you.

I've never seen one for sale.
I'd get someone to measure resistance of a working bridge pickup, and have Nordstrand custom build you a DC4 to match.

| | | | would anyone barf if i routed the hole and put a mfd in there custom style.
will i be thoroughly destroying the value?
will Leo roll over in his G?
the bass is pretty relic'd out as far as collectible condition.
thanks for your thoughts and ideas you guys-keep them coming. -Novax |

| | | I didnt mention that a previous owner milled little holes to allow for jazz bass pu's in both positions. You can only notice it up close, but I think that it's vintage value has probably already been compromised. Once I figure out my camera I'll post some pics. |

| | | | That's encouraging TDR1138. For some reason, modding it and making it 1 of a kind is
beckoning me. I am crazy, I know. |

Wire it to switch between the bridge, both, neck, and then add a push/pull on the volume pot to split the bridge coil into a single coil (use whichever one would be humcancelling with the neck single). Then you'd have something "1 of a kind" but it would still be completely reversable... That's just me, though.

| | | | Dude that is brilliant-as the single coil is in the exact same case. Are the neck and bridge HB2's the same? |

The SB-2 bridge pup is longer.
The recent Inteceptor part out was the first I have seen HB-2's in a few years.
Give Carey Nordstrand a call and inquire about a custom pickup.

| | | | great idea nonetheless TDR. my contingency plan is a bassline SJB 5 stack which will fit right in and do all the humbucking tricks. under 60 bux-or get a pair of nordstrands and sell the HB2? I know, I know... |

| | | | now I'm on a Les Paul bass project and my twisted taste is steering me towards HB2/MFD
L2000 Toro custom. the pickup holes are pretty chewed up and the router is calling me.
guys, talk me out of it. |
