My next G&L purchase???

Sign in to disble this ad
Now that I have really gotten used to my L-2000 and the neck, I find my self gassing for another G&L. I am spoiled by the growl and tone on my L2K. Bought a Lakland 44-01 and still prefer my L2K though the Lak has a more comfy neck. Been looking through private ads and Evilbay.

If you wanted to add to your collection, which G&L would you go for and why?

What is your favorite setting on the 2K? That may help with a suggestion.

Right now I am Jonesing for a fretless L-2500. If any one has one collecting dust, let me know and maybe we can work something out.

Why: I sold my MIM fretless Jazz and I would like to kill two birds with one stone and get 5 strings and fretless in one bass to complement my ASAT. That would cover a ton of ground with just two basses.

Treble all the way up. Bass up 3/4. Passive pick up toggled. Low boost toggled (unless I need the boost). Both pickups toggled. Volume at various settings.

Could always look for another L2000 with a different neck width/ profile. Also, I just got a 1982 L2000e that seems to have a much different character than newer L2Ks. I think the preamp on the 1982 has a more vintage character to it, while the newer ones sound more modern in active mode (who'da thunk?). The 1982 has a 1 5/8" nut width and I think I'm prefering it to the 1 1/2" on my SB-2 (and am prefering it to my L2500s neck without a doubt...an extra string will do that though).

You could also try an SB-2. I have one that really kills for a P-bass- definitely a different character than my L2000, especially when you blend in some of the bridge pickup on the SB-2...
