neck from early G&L basses

Hello everyone, I wanna know one thing :
Does the neck from the early G&L basses are from the end of of the musicman neck stock? I've heard one day that Leo took the last neck to product his first basses? I'm right or wrong? Thanx for your help...

I've never heard that, but Leo did have something of a reputation for never throwing anything away.

I agree, that SB-1 headstock looks very similar to the MM, but the first G&L production bass was actually the L-1000, which has a larger headstock than what you see on the MM basses.

If I understand what you're asking, I find it very doubtful that there was any crossover between late MusicMan and early G&L. When Ernie Ball bought MusicMan, all designs went with the deal and you can be assured that the Ernie Ball company would have been very thorough in that regard. There is a lot of history there and a great many conflicting stories; but when MM manufacturing left Fullerton, it was gone.

If you're wondering about the wood itself, it really doesn't matter whether an uncut neck blank was meant for a StingRay or an L-1000. It's just a piece of maple.

Basically, G&L was a fresh piece of paper. It drew on Leo's vast experience dating back to the early days and culminates in the MFD pickups we see to this day.

I think they used bodies, unsent to MM, and routed them for wunkay pickup position.
Maybe they used the uncut necks and shaped the headstock differently.
The bridge design of late Leo-MM is similar to G&l bridge.
