| If I understand what you're asking, I find it very doubtful that there was any crossover between late MusicMan and early G&L. When Ernie Ball bought MusicMan, all designs went with the deal and you can be assured that the Ernie Ball company would have been very thorough in that regard. There is a lot of history there and a great many conflicting stories; but when MM manufacturing left Fullerton, it was gone.
If you're wondering about the wood itself, it really doesn't matter whether an uncut neck blank was meant for a StingRay or an L-1000. It's just a piece of maple.
Basically, G&L was a fresh piece of paper. It drew on Leo's vast experience dating back to the early days and culminates in the MFD pickups we see to this day.
