A couple weeks ago I was looking for a new bass and found THIS bass on clearance at Musician's Friend. It was a REALLY good deal at $349, so I took the bait and ordered it. They still sell the Tribute L-2000, but mine was a different item # altogether from the one they list on their site now.

What I don't understand totally is why this was on clearance since it seems to be a pretty new instrument (Indonesia, 2007?). It also doesn't say "TRIBUTE" in big letters on the headstock and the bridge like some I've seen. Anybody got any info that would help me unlock this puzzle? Is there something about my guitar that is unusual, or discontinued?

BTW, this bass sounds AWESOME. It's my second bass, my first was a Rogue.

Yeah, the Indon version has the smaller sticker and no TRIBUTE on the bridge. Congratulations on an excellent deal. Serial says it's from April 07.

Thanks. So maybe mine was on clearance because it was last year's model? Everything else seems on par with current production models?

Awesome!

LOL! 350 bucks for a totally wicked bass! My first SB1 cost me about that much back in '87.

Congrats!

Stock builds up, etc., got to shift things to maintain momentum. Nothing wrong with this one. Bang up to date.

Here is the link to the page where I bought it. Sometimes they "find another one" somewhere and it will just appear on the site.

hey man what a deal.... but i saw some difference from my trib from Korea. First , the toggle switchs works from top to bottom, so on mine there action is from back to front. And second, the bridge is screwed with more than 2 screws than my trib and also you could not string it thrue body( there is no holes in back) is there any differences just cause of the shop they were did?

Just bought one of these today, but you got a better deal by about $200.00.

I didn't expect to get a natural finish and rosewood, but sorta fell in love with the color scheme (after the tone.)

Only the 5-string models have the thru-body option; this one's a 4.

Awesome find, dude! Unbeatable price. You won't need a third bass for while. Maybe ever. And you'll never get a deal like that again on a new instrument again, most likely.

+1 on that

+1 also on XRT - I was a big fan back in my ChiTown days. From the April Fools joke non-concerts at Navy Pier to the live from the archives stuff. Just a great, great radio station.

Where else would you hear Jimi, Zep, Elive Costello, Buffalo Springfield and Emo Phillips all in one set ?

I am hoping to get the same bass from Indonesia with the same color scheme today. Ever since I saw Ed Friedland's demonstration I have been wanting one.

You won't be disappointed. I spent most of the afternoon experimenting to discover what this instrument is capable of doing.

Absolutely amazed with by this bass.

I snagged it new for $363 and am waiting for it to arrive from California. I can't wait to play on it.

Its very likely that this model (maybe not in natural) will be my next bass. However, I had fully expected this thing to cost $500-$600. Nice deal!
