new neck

Sign in to disble this ad
O.K. Heres whats up. I need to change the neck on this bass. I just bought it in June. I ordered it in Feb. of '06. I orderd it with a 1 3/4 neck with a 12 inch radius. I want to send it back to G and L and have them install a 1 1/2 inch neck. The thing is, do I have them put a rosewood or maple fretboard? Do I bother with GOT? Only if I get another maple board. Maybe a maple board with a satin finish. What do you think?

Whats wrong with the original neck? I want it! (I prefer the 1 3/4"!)

Well, the original neck is too big for me. You want it? Are you serious?

You send back the bass and it gets a new neck, but you don't get the old one back.

Sorry to burst your bubbles.

How much does it cost to have G&L change your neck? I'd love a maple board on my L2500!

IME, a #6 or #8 rosewood would be a nice improvement.

If I were thinking about ordering a neck from G&L, I would probably go for ebony. Just because it is not so common and the G&L fanatics really seem to dig the ebony ones.

Hmmm.

L2K owner has 1-3/4" neck that is too big.

SB-2 owner has 1-1/2", but wants 1-3/4"

Have you two considered simply swapping necks? Could save both of you some money.

Well it does void the warrenty for starters. Also, who says each neck would interchange? I have a six bolt neck.
