Newer SB-2 versus older SB-2

I've searched around here a bit, but haven't found much info on the tonal differences between an old, circa '83 SB-2 and the newer models. Anyone able to help out?

I'll try and get a pic of my '83 posted tomorrow. Any input in the meanwhile would be much appreciated!

The new SB2 is a PJ: one precision type pickup, one jazz type pickup.
the 1983-84 model is a jazz bass, two J type pickups.

there were two 1983's in classifieds recently; might still be there
one was lefty.
