no vintage bass G&L's out there??

Sign in to disble this ad
Been watching the Bay etc., and have noticed no slab bodied SB-1, SB-2 and very very few L-1000's being offered for sale. Is it the economy or are folks just not letting them go? It used to be one or two or more a week, then a month now none! What up?

Well, don't know about you, but if I had a G&L I certainly wouldn't sell it.

As a recent G&L owner (recently purchased a late 90's L2500 fretless) I totally agree. I don't think I'd ever sell it.

I don't even own one, but I've played one, and they're one of the unsung heroes of the bass world.

I'll be the odd man out. I sold my L-1000 in August or September. I kept my Tribute L-2000.

Aren't the very early G&L's getting close to being "vintage" now? I know they're Leo Fender's last and finest designs, but I thought they were still too new to go nuts in the vintage market like the Fenders.....

My L2000 is one of the last of the 3-bolt neck models (with the bi-cut design) and my 2500 is only a year or two old. So neither are vintage but I'm never selling either one .

I have a G&L guitar even (a legacy special hardtail) and all 3 of these things just totally channel satan...... I've never played stuff that sounded as monsterous as G&L and i plan to be buried with the ones I got.....

Jeez, Chef just moved a wicked Tookay top-loader less than 2 weeks ago. A week before Christmas, there was an 81 Wunkay and an 82 'hog Tookay on the 'Bay with BIN's of $750 and $725 respectively. Obviously, they didn't last more than 3 hours.

Be patient and stay tuned, the real gear-whores are just taking a break.

A slab bodied SB2 went for about 550.00 a month ago. Dang, I wanted that bass, but my old lady had me all wrapped up in other stuff, and it was Thanksgiving Day..... I wanted to hit that one.

Somebody in the market for an MIA P-clone would be wise to bid on that puppy. Gotta love those G&L burst finishes!

I sold it to this guy for alot less so I'm sure there is room to negotiate. I'm out of town right now but heading back after the first and would be willing to buy and ship it to you. PM me if interested.

Fullerton Vintage Series Fenders from the early 80's which are really good copies of Leo's original work from the 50's and 60's are in the 2K range. Yet the real first generation Leo built and designed G&L stuff from the same early 80's time period is 1/3 to 1/4 of the Fullerton Fenders.

Wow, that disappeared quickly! It was mahogany & maple with minor dings and an asking price of 895.

Beat up & modified '81 L1000 on CL

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/msg/975298942.html No pics.

Thanks are due to all you G&Lers. I researched this forum and recently purchased a G&L (Trib L2000) and am loving it. The TI jazz flats gave it the tone, bottom, bloom and grit to anchor a jazz band's holiday concert. It's a responsive instrument, easily allowing me to vary dynamics and tone depending on attack, and playing position over the pickups/fingerboard. I'll post pics of the natural/rosewood instrument soon.

This is the first bass that I look forward to picking up, admiring its playability and experimenting with it its tonal pallete.

Someone told me about Dogpile dot com which searches multiple engines from which the above L1000 ad appeared after typing in G&L L1000.

Wishing you all a Happy and prosperous New Year!
