And now I'm back again...Yeah!

I've owned an L2000 and L2500 Tribute, but the EQ is just not my thing. The pickups sound amazing, but I wanted more control over my sound without messing with my amp. I bought an Audere preamp to install in the L2500 Tribute but I couldn't figure out the wiring.

Then, I stumble upon this in the classifieds:

Audere 3ZB, just like I wanted to do before, but done much better than I could have done it!

The controls are:

Volume
Mid/Blend
Treble/Bass
Parallel/Single coil/series switch for each pickup
3ZB switch

Wow! I should be able to get a ton of tones with this beast!

That's the one!

I wonder how similar it would sound to your '01 with DC's.

I'd be interested in hearing of any similarity as well.

To date, the only pickup I've heard that is even close to the big MFD is a Dark Star. I've not heard the Nord DC's but hope to soon.

Based on what I've read, I would liken the Audere/MFD combination as taking all the goodness of the MFD and giving it back to you with refined control. I'm guessing that the bass will sound like a classic L-2500, just more.

That's what I'm figuring. I sometimes found the MFD pups to be too middy, and now I can cut the mids if I need to. It'll also be nice to be able to blend the pickups to taste.

Heh... That'd work out pretty good, huh?

Mal liked the tone a lot, but he's having trouble bonding with 5'ers.

He said he was having pain in his left elbow that wouldn't let him work with anything wider than Jazz Bass necks.
