Let's just say the tech did the toothpick trick, only professionaly.

Nothing is going through the bridge ever again, though.

2 pieces of ash it would seem, unless the basswood is at the core, completely surrounded by ash... Never really thought about it...

I once owned a USA made Climax Bass and it also had 4 screws on the bottom of the bridge plate (beneth the saddle springs) and two more screws on the outer raised ribs of the bridge.
I think it was the most rigid bass I have ever played except for a 6 bolt neck L2000.
unfortunatly I didnt like the Jazz style neck and the single pup in the bridge position didnt quite suit my tonal preference.

Just noticed that G&L are back to the solid Alder and Ash bodies on the L2500. Anyone know when they switched back?

I did not get the "US made" in your OP. Weird. I guess someone is drilling the holes too big.

That's what the tech said. OTOH, this also meant that the screws did not take too much wood with them when they were pulled up.

Same here -- I'm through the body on my (Korean) L2500 with TI Jazz Flats. A truly wonderful sound/setup. I'm sorry to read that the string-through option is discontinued ... I strongly recommend string-through if possible.

Read where? No 4 string ever had that. 5 originally didn't, then they added it.

Can the whole TI 5 string set go through the body? Here it says that the set is long scale, for 34". A definitive answer please?

I've got TI JF345 set on my L2500 and all through the body but...

on the E and A strings I had to remove about 1/8th inch of silk which was resting in and very slightly beyond the nut.
