Question Older TRIBUTE vs Newer Tribute L-2000

Sign in to disble this ad
Is there any difference between the earlier Tribute L-2000's that have the Tribute stamped bridge and Big letter "Tribute" headstock lettering.... and the newer ones that you can hardly tell its a tribute?

My concern is the body wood. Do the older ones have an all ash body like the newer ones. Were they built like they are now?

This older trib serial# starts with #03. The newer ones are up to #08 I think.
Thanks 4 ur help.

Earlier Tributes were made in Korea, current Tributes are made in Indonesia.

Start IIRC

If the early Trib has a trans finish, the body wood will be ash. Otherwise, it'll be tilia (basswood).

End IIRC.

Both are nicely built instruments and well worth the money. Overall quality on the Indonesian Tributes is generally a bit higher.

one think i've been wondering; just bought a trib 2500 and it has the small font tribute sticker on the head, but also has tribute on the bridge. I thought the korean tribs had large font tribute sticker AND tribute on the bridge; while the indo 2500s have the small font sticker and G&L on the bridge. Mine has one from each; what does that mean?

This is going to sound really flip, but in all seriousness, I look at this as typical G&L. They might have found a big ol' lot of older bridges, or they might have run out of the new ones and had to make do for a short time with older stuff.

Pick one!
