Found one of these for $495.00. Looks to be in excellent condition.....haven't seen it in person yet though.

What do you think? Is this price high, a deal, or is the price spot on.

I'd hit it hard for $495. Love the SB-1 for some stuff.

That used to be what they went for. G&L's have tranded up overall over the last two three years.
I'd call that low end of the scale for what appears to be a bass on the higher end of the scale, condition-wise.

I you like you "some mean P bass," you'll loooove that.

Thanks.

For the input guys. This one's got a jazz neck too!

Does anyone know how to tell if it is the original?

The SB-1 had a thinner 1 11/16 nut not quite a 1.5 and not a 1.75.

Love that width and wish they would bring it back.

Nobody makes aftermarket necks so 99% it is the original one.

There's no reason for it not to be the original neck. If it's a true 1.5" jazz neck, it would likely be a custom ordered bass and the first one I've seen or heard of, tho I'm sure they exist.

Nice score.

I had an SB-1 that had a #6 neck in the past so they are out there albeit not as common as I'd like.

If you don't want it let me know, I'm a G&L jazz-neck junkie

Trying to get ahold of this guy. Don't know about a long distance craigslist deal. Supposing he answers my Email's and supposing he's interested in selling it to me and shipping it across the country do you guys have any advise on the best way to do a deal like this. I mean, what would be the best way to do the deal where we both could feel secure that niether one of us would get screwed.

picked up my 1st G&L today...

...after seeing it in my LGS last week (Harry's in Raleigh). it's an SB-1 with a 1988 serial number. i can't believe the shape it's in for a 20 year old bass.

there is only 1 tiny scratch on it. everything else looks perfect. and it came with a tolex case! all that for $450!

been playing around on it tonight and am excited about playing it all day tomorrow at church. it sounds really great and plays easy.

thanks for reading! i'm stoked!! go G&L!!!
