Hi, I have just get a new Tribute G&L L-2500 on thursday 24th.
The bass is fine, but I have a problem with a combination of the parallel/series control and the pickup selector. When I switch the bridge pickup in series, the bass practically don't produce any sound. When the series/parallel switch is in parallel, there isn't any problem, and any pickup combination works perfectly.
I'm really worried cause this is my new bass and I'm not in USA, so sending the bass to G&L factory would be almost impossible.
Can someone help me with this? |

It may be a wire for the bridge pickup popped off the switch. That is an easy soldering fix.
In series any wire popped off, or hopefully not a bad coil, will kill the output of that pickup.
Tap the poles with a screwdriver in parallel and make sure both sets cause a *pop*. Don't have your amp cranked just a little will do.

Francis | In both modes, active and passive. All the rest of the positions are fine, but the bridge pickup doesn't sound when I play in series, no matter if the bass is in active or passive mode. |

Jim | The neck pickup alone in series works perfectly.
I tried the bridge pickup with a screwdriver and there is a coil that pop much louder than the other one. Do you think there is a problem with the bridge pickup or could be a wire? |

Do you think there is a problem with the bridge pickup or could be a wire? | Open the control cavity and look at the middle switch. There is a set of wires from the neck pickup and an identical set from the bridge. On a USA they are yellow, black and white.
Make sure none are broken off. The problem is either going to be the wires, switch or the pickup coil.
Got a multimeter to measure resistance?

Jim | Hi, I opened the control cavity already and everything there seems to be ok (no broken wires).
I have a multimeter. What should I do? |

Call the dealer too that you bought it from.

Jim | I'm not very good at electronics, could you tell me how to do that?
Thanks |

Any electronics tech worth their salt could look at the scematic and ohm the thing out. It is too much to explain the how of doing it.

Jim | But what should I do to figure out if it's a bad coil? |

Turns out it was just a wire and a five second soldering fix.

Not my work, but I wish it was.
