Well I just got back from purchasing a used L-2000, and it plays and sounds great. It was used and costed 128,000 yen which would be about $1100.00 I guess. Theres no neck warp, nothing wrong with the electronics, no fretbuzz or anything bad, its cheap only because its got a few dings on it here and there. It is made in Fullerton, and came with a certificate with Phylis' sig on it, certifying its code: B029779. I wanted to ask you guys if you know what year that might be? I know its after '91 because it mentions Leo's death, and the neck is bolted on with three bolts so I'm guessing its early to mid 90's or so. Not sure though. Here are some pics:

Thanks for reading! I'm glad to be able join the G&L group, they make some great basses.

hey thanks alot it plays really well, although it buzzes a bit sometimes. When I touch the strings it clicks sometimes, and when I let go of all the strings it buzzes a little at times, while at other times its relatively silent. Should I get it grounded or is this nothing to worry about? My last Warwick didnt make any noise at all.

Try moving between Series and Parallel mode (the middle switch). Parallel mode should be quieter. G&L's don't come shielded (I have no idea why they think this is a good idea) so you may want to look into having it sheilded if the noise is too much.

They use shielding paint now but for many years there was nothing or just a brass plate.
You may need to move the bridge ground wire or possibly replace the jack.

My L1K got much quieter when I replaced the worn out jack.

Hey thanks for the replies, actually the humming is not too bad I can deal with it, but what I'm worried about is the little clicking noises that come out when I touch any metal part of the bass. Is this normal? Everytime I let go of the strings and pluck an open note this annoying click sound comes out. I don't remember this happening with my former bass. Is there any way to prevent this or does it happen with all G&L's?

Mine doesn't make that clicking noise. Sounds like a grounding issue. Mine hums if I am facing my amp, goes away when I turn my back to the amp. Also quietest on passive, bridge pickup and parallel setting.I'm not sure why it would be quieter on the bridge but not the neck pickup when both times it is set on parallel.
