Sign in to disble this ad
I recently acquired a near mint LB-100. The previous owner swapped out the original pickup with one from Seymour Duncan (the quarter pounders I believe others have referred to here at TB) They're fine. I like 'em. But I wanted to get an authentic G&L pickup. I have sent queries to the G&L website, but not heard back for weeks. Does anyone know how I can get one? cost estimates? |

For the "authentic" G&L sound, you're on the right track with the MFD.
I got one from Buffalo Bros a couple years ago.
Ping "Sunbeast" (Karl), he might still have the one I traded him. |

Guitar Man responded within hours of my initial e-mail and we discussed what it would take to get the MFD pickup.
This evening, Buffalo Bros. responded saying they called G&L and have located an original (not G&L MFD) pickup for the LB-100. Apparently G&L still has a few laying around in a warehouse somewhere. We haven't discussed it, but I'm confident that they could acquire an MFD, too.
I am pleased with both companies, I'll figure out later which one to use. But for now, the question is this:
Do I go with the original pickup or the new MFD? I'm leaning towards the MFD, since I love the one in my SB-1, I know I'll be happy. I've never heard the original pickup.
Anyone have any opinions? |

Matt at guitarmannyc.com said it would take a few weeks. It's been 3 weeks so far. I'll keep checking with him for status. Hopefully it'll come next week.
I'll let y'all know as soon as I get it and have it installed.

G&L really isn't setup to deal with end users. They expect their dealers to do that as pect of their overall strategy. I think you'll find that the dealers appreciate it and that it actually works pretty well.
My .02 and worth every cent.
