Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a used L-2000 and there is some rust on the pickups. Is there anything I can do about this or should I just leave it?
thanks

Rust on the pole pieces?
Pretty common, don't hurt nuttin'.
If it bugs you, you can clean it off.

I've never let a little oxidation of the pole pieces bother me much, but I have wondered what would be best to remove it without endangering either the plastic of the pup covers or the guitar's finish (which really shouldn't be an issue so long as one is careful, but still).

Any specific recommendations, Chef?

Put a drop of this on the end of a q-tip; wipe on; walk away for 10 minutes...come back and wipe off the rust.

Sold! I can think of about 50 other uses for that just off the top of my head that have nothing to do with this forum.

You da man, Chef.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try that stuff I did take some WD40 on a Qtip and it got some off but the one side of poles on the neck pick is pretty oxizadizes rusty and green. I guess this guy a bought it from had sweaty hands. Good thing it still sounds great.
thanks
