Rusted L-2000 pickups/hardware

I bought an awesome L-2000 in the beginning of this year - it's a 2006 model. I've never had any problems with it until now.

I brought it back from a gig (where it was fine) and left it in its case in my bedroom for almost a week (sad, I know, but I didn't have any time to play it). Anyway, I opened it up and the poles on the pickups were rusted over as well as the springs/screws in the bridge. Is this not a bit ridiculous for a bass this new? And for it to happen over the course of a week? I didn't notice any extreme humidity in my room or spilled water in the case or anything.

I'm thinking of contacting G&L, but I don't know what they'd do. I think it should still be under warranty but I never filled out the warranty registration. Any suggestions?

I would go on the G & L website and email the service department. It should have a 10 year warrenty.
