So I just joined the board and thought I'd say hey and hello...
I ordered a US blueburst L-2500 with birdseye maple finger board last week from my local dealer. Sounds like it'll be 8 weeks before delivery. Can't wait, of course, but I guess that means more time for bikes and motorcycles and other things. Best hit those while I can cause I'm pretty sure I'll be playing the thing around the clock once it gets here. That wait also gives me time to decide on the perfect name for the new baby... maybe Thumper... or Janice...
I had played an L-2000 back in 1988, barely choosing a Stingray 5 over it for the extra low end. It's taken me a while, but I think I'm coming around full-circle now to the bass I should have had all along. I've always liked Leo's (and George's ) stuff, except for maybe Fenders. Kinda ironic, ain't it?
I'll post a pic when it gets here. Cool forum, for sure.

I do hope you receive your bass in the 8 week time period that you were given. Be patient if you have to wait longer. The G&L is definitly a unique instrument. I'm just having a ball playing with mine. My wife is staring to give me lip about the playing time I've been putting in. I just got my bass back from G&L after having the neck replaced. I love it. Have fun brother.

I tried one a week ago or so and was struck by the wide range of tones. In fact, I didn't like the first couple and was thinking this wasn't the bass for me. But then I kept tweaking... I get the overall gist of the controls. I love having that flexibility available, though it's all in the theoretical stage right now. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

-Mark | I ordered mine in February of '06 and got it in June of '06. About 5 months. Torture if you aren't prepared for it.

I ordered an L2K fretless around mid Feburary last year and it finally came the first part of September.
Ebony for the fingerboard and retooling were given for the prolonged delivery.

I did read some posts about people getting their bass in 5-8 weeks, but most are several months or more. The price we pay for supporting our local luthiers... |

Take a break and study the controls. I'm still trying to remember what control settings I like. I've started keeping a little notebook in my gigbag. My Bass Teacher hates my L2500, because it's so tweak-able and sounds different at every lesson. Here's a link to the controls on the L-2500 http://www.glguitars.com/schematics/...ls_diagram.pdf

| | | Just wanted to follow up - my bass arrived last week, just over 4 months since the order and just as I was finishing up my first sweater...
Wow, it makes some very nice sounds! I can see why some would want to go with flatwounds as the tone is almost too vibrant, depending on your tastes of course. String choice will make a big difference as will setting up the amp correctly. |

Choose a name like the Native Americans used to choose theirs; wait until you get the bass (not that the Native Americans played bass, but you get the point), let it show it's true nature to you and then give it a rightful name . . .

| | | | Hi, hope you thorughly enjoy your bass when it arrives. I ordered a SB-2 June 5th and 3 months later I'm still waiting. As the wait gets longer it's gotta be getting shorter I keep telling myself. I have a L-1000 and a SB-1 to bide my time in the meanwhile.
