First of all, photo credit goes to Brian J. Bruemmer (TBer brian v2.0) courtesy of his thread in the Basses Forum. Second, the red bass:

Cool. I would love an SB-1 with the MFD split-coil from the SB-2. But if it follows the mold of the new JB by emulating Fender, it won't have an MFD pickup, and will have a 20 fret neck with four bolt joint. On the upside, if it comes with a classic P neck, maybe you'll be able to get that neck on the JB, and vice versa. That would be sweet.

It looks to be 22 fret.

Mike

EDIT...or I could recount.

I think the SB-1 should've stayed in the lineup all along. Great basses. Love those G&Ls!

Nothing on their website yet.

But that's not unusual.

I looks to be 21 frets in the picture with the purple jazz for sure. It also looks like the MFD pickup. But is it a SB body or a L2K body?? SB-1 using the L2K body would be cool.

First of all I'm REALLY glad that they are putting purple in their color options, even though from the picture it looks like a different purple than the metallic finish. (Could be the flash on the camera, though.) This and a possibility of an SB-1 being revived and I'm going to start saving up to get a custom G&L made.

Hiya,

Anybody hear any more about the SB-1 coming back? I really need them to make them in black/maple with the flat black pickguard and bridge again.

When I bought my black/maple SB-2 back in the 80's there was a matching SB-1 along side of it. I couldn't decide between them after playing them for about an hour so I went ennie-meenie-miney-moe and stopped on the SB-2, I should have bought them both...

There's a G&L dealer in my area that has a new SB-2 (probably made in 08') that has a factory flat black crinkle pickguard. I've never read, heard or seen one anywhere else on a new bass. But apparently they're available. So maybe you could get one on a SB-1.

Oooooo, put the #8 neck on the SB-1, and I'm a happy camper.

Put a 1 11/16" inch neck back on them, and I'll buy two.

edit.... and the larger body like they had in the late 80's!!!
