SB-2 with BEAD tuning?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone do this? I know the SB-2 has the reputation as a "rock" bass, but it sounds great in my worship band at church. We do a lot of songs where I think the low C, C#, and D would add some nice variety and am curious if anyone has taken an SB-2 to this level. Plus, I can imagine it being more "growly" in the lower registers. I do know the adjustments I would have to do (nut filing, set-up, etc).

Thanks!
Scott

I've done it once before (with a clear blue/diamond plate pickguard SB-2 that's been around TB a little bit) and will be doing it again when my most recent purchase (a Trib SB-2) gets here.

It worked fine and I like the control that the adjustable pole pieces in the MFD pickups give you for balancing the string-to-string output.

I did this over the weekend and it works awesome. Takes a little getting used to to move things up a string (hard breaking a 17-year habit ), but the low C's, C#'s, and D's were certainly yummy in church. To me, I only used the G-string when popping or doing disco-like octaves, but since I have other funk machines for that, I don't miss it on the SB-2. Those MFDS really growl down low!

I'm almost down to this, as my SB2 is tuned CGCF (Drop C). The sound is still awesome, growly as hell !
