SB-2 Pick-up Question/problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay so I got a Tribute SB-2 a few months ago and I'm fairly sure the J pick up isn't working, I've heard its supposed to act more like a tone control but does that mean it cant be heard unless the P pick-up is turned up? Because I notice a very small difference in my sound when I have the J pick-up volume control turned up all the way but never can I hear it alone. Does that mean my pick-up is broken or its working fine?

So you've tried turning the P pickup volume all the way down while turning the J all the way up? If theres no sound when you do this, the J is not functioning correctly (probably a loose/broken wire from the J volume pot). You still might hear a slight change in tone when you turn the J knob all the way up as the pot itself will load the signal.

Yeah thats what I tried turning the P all the way down. If the wire is the problem is this something I can fix on my own easy or should I have a professional do it?

maybe just open up the hood and check at the j pup pot if all the wires a are still in place, and you could even follow all the wires from the pots to the pups ....just for make shure that all is in place
