Is the SB-2 schematic at G&L site correct?

I dont see the controls looking as described (One volume control for each pickup, no tone control). Thinking of wiring my Fender P/J controls to work as the SB-2. Here is the link, it seems to show a tone pot and pu selector?

That is the first generation SB-2 which has a pair of jazz pickups.

If you want to wire your PJ like and SB-2 all you really need to do is remove the tone control. The P and J are wired like two parallel pickups volume / volume.

There is one difference between the Jazz and standard Precision (but not a Hot-rodded Precision) wiring in that the Jazz pickup outputs are fed to the pot wipers while the P signal is applied across the pot track. The SB-2 is wired like a Jazz without the tone control. I've just done the job, removing a stacked pot and tone previously fitted, reverting to 250K CTS pots - and now it sounds like an SB-2 should! (imho of course ;-) )

I think the "other" G&L forum has a picture of the standard SB-2 setup.

BTW, getting the schematics correct or even consistent in what they show is clearly not a G&L priority as they have been in a bit of a mess for quite a while now.

Thanks this helps.

We are talking about a p bass of mine (96 AM p bass) That I cut the j pu in some years ago, which I now regret but whats done is done. Since She's allready a cut up monster I want to try a mod on it.

This link might help:

http://www.fender.com/support/wiring...arts_lists.php

Find the entry for American Jazz Bass, click the second "yes" and you get the wiring diagram you need, except for the exact wire colours. Just skip the tone control and wire straight to the jack.
