Some advice/opinions please

I have a Tribute L2000 which I'm very happy with. I want to get a second bass and I have my eye on a Trib JB2.

As the L 2000 is so versatile sounding I am wondering would I be buying more of the same ? I know a lot depends on what strings, amp ect you use, but generally speaking would I be buying "a different bass ?"

Thanks in advance.

The JB2 is very, very different from the L2000.

If you've ever played a Fender Jazz; it's similar.
Yet different. Far more present top end than most J type basses.
Some guys like this, some don't.
Fantastic build quality, some J bass attributes without the weird ''custom offset J body."

I'll be replacing the pickups in mine with Nords I think.

Thanks again guys ! I wanted to stay with G&L, yet have a different sounding bass. I think my L2000 will have a companion soon.

The JB-2 is a bit like shaving with a straight razor. Get it right, it's great — get it wrong it'll cut your head off. Personally I like it, although I can sympathise with Chef's jeremiad against the pickups; I wouldn't at all mind trying one of these with the pickups swapped out. The stock ones really whack out some serious output for passives, they are red hot.

I am in a similar situation. I have a L2000 Tribute that I am very happy with but would also like something different. I was considering the SB2 but was also looking at the Fender Tony Franklin (fretted). Also wondering how different all these are from the JB2. It would be so helpful to find a couple of dealers close by with all these in stock but no such luck.

I'm sure some of the guys over on the bass guitars forum could give some advice.

As for dealers, have you checked ebay. Some SB2's going at good prices on ebay here in Ireland.

Anyway, good luck in your quest.
