Question Some Issues regarding my USA L2500. Please Help!!!

Hey guys I just bought a new L2500. It is an amazing instrument with some minor issues that I hope a setup by my tech will solve.

1) My frets have some buzzing on the E and A string from frets 12 on. The frets are also a little rough on the fingerboard edges on the upper frets.
2) When I plug in my bass I sometimes won't hear anything from the amp. I have to unplug it and then replug it in and put the instrument cable in hard for the bass to "catch".

Are these issues normal on G&L basses? It was delivered to me last week and the bass may have been affected due to the delivery in the cold weather.

Congratulations! USA or Tribute?

The fret buzzing is just a setup issue. The sharp edges are also a setup issue, commonly called fret sprout. Brought on by very dry air, it's a semi-common issue with any fretted instrument.

I assume you mean you're plugging the cable into the bass rather than the amp and have this problem. It could be a bad jack, but that would be unusual for a new instrument. First off, try another cable. If the problem turns out to be a bad jack, the dealer should be able to handle it under warranty.

If you use cheapie cables, consider stepping up to Bayou cables or Livewire cables. Avoid Monster cables.

The first issue is pretty much normal to any bass It takes a few days, may even a couple weeks, for a bass to acclimate to its new home. The second problem is quite unusual, so swap the cable and go from there. If it turns out the jack is bad (it happens...) and want to replace it yourself, instructions are available.

I set up my US L2500 with the low action that I prefer; I then encountered an intonation problem which was that the saddle screws (the long ones) were too short to get the intonation correct, nowhere in Cyprus or the UK could anyone supply any, luckily for me my friend who is a brilliant engineer managed to get hold of a 32 thread per inch UNC die and make me some longer screws based on the original that I had posted to him.
