String gauge on my L-2000 Tribute

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a set of Elixyr heavy gauge strings, 50 to 105, and was wondering if anyone has tried this gauge on an L-2000 Tribute? My questions are...will they fit the nut correctly?....will I have to make any truss rod adjustments?....and what kind of tone can I expect from these strings? I am currently using Elixyr 45 to 105, and to me, the G-string is just to wimpy for my tastes. I'm looking for more of "fat bottom" sound. Will these strings do the trick? Thanks to all.

If it were me, I'd try the strings expecting to make a slight truss adjustment. If I got the desired result - then I'd have a new nut cut. IME - having a perfect nut & string match leads to smoother tuning and better tuning stability...
