Hey folks, a little help here please? Maybe this is not the proper place to post this question, but here goes.
I'm thinking of selling my '82 G&L L1K fretless4.
I think this link will work for a pic. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...asses07067.jpg
It's an excellent player. I'd done a lot of gigs and recording w/it. Has new DR chromes that really inspired me to play it more, but I want to go 35" fretless. It has a paint chip on the upper horn (looking down on it) and since it's black - it shows all the swirls and swoons all the girls !
Anyway, could I get some idea of it's selling value, please?

| | | | I think that you could get between $700 & 800 for it. I paid $900 recently for an 81 L1K fretted, but it was in mint+ condition, with the OHSC. I think that you might be better off hanging on to it as an investment, though: these early L1Ks are in limited supply (and were never manufactured in large series) and demand seems steady. I think the price will continue to rise as it has for the last few years. See if you can save for whatever other bass you want. |

I wished I had half the gear that I sold in the past. I sold a P-Bass that was awesome and I want it back! I sold an old Groove Tube Bass Preamp, I didn't know what I had when I owned that. I want that back now, too! |

2) For whatever reason G&L fretless's seem to sell low. I'd be surprised to see you get much more than $650 for it, if you have the OHSC.
YMMV;

You will buy a pretty 35" scale bass, dig it for a few months and then long for the vintage G&L tone that you can't get with the new bass. And then you will have a hard time fining another fretless. And odds are if you do find one, it won't sound as good as the one you have. I have bought and sold some basses in the last few years, but I always have hung on to my 61 Jazz bass. Resist gas if it means selling the vintage mojo player.

trying... to ...
yes, I think...
I know,
I've been holding on to all my basses for ever it seems. Got a Kull and want another one - f'less, of course, but I can totally relate to what you're saying... I've sold a few basses that I've severely kicked my own a$$ for and I can see how this could be another one. (Oly white/matching head 64 Jazz, 73 Ric 4001, 76 T Bird, Hagstrom 8string, Gib EBO, D.Electro longhorn, 71 or 72 Jazz, fretless Ripper - maybe a couple I can see parting with, but a few that still tug at the memories, ya know?)
OK. I got it...
...resisting the GAS!
Thanks again.

| | | | Chef, speaking of the OHSC; I have a case here that I think came with it. I doesn't say G&L on it and it has a soft brown interior.
Does that sound right?
