Timeline info on switches

When did G&L retire the colored switches on the L1000 and L2000 basses? I had thought that it was around the same time that the headstock changed, but I've found an L1000 with a newer headstock and a colored plastic red switch.

Front loaded controls had tips, rear loaded as today don't.
