Tone

Now, it's funny that I should be asking about tone for an L2000 before I even receive it...but here I go!

My ideal tone: the bass tone in Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. I detest slapping, so I don't care about how slap-worthy the strings are. Having mentioned strings: should I get roundwounds, flatwounds, or halfwounds? Any idea on the brand?

Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flatwound strings - like big, fat, mellow rubber bands (if such a thing exists) with a bit of 'bite' at the treble end - not at all harsh like roundwounds.
I know it's a bit of a 'stock' answer round here, but they'll really nail that tone with an L2000, and then some.
They have a very balanced sound and break-in real nice.

(I use 'em - did you guess )
