Took the 2000 Trib to its first gig last night. Sure was fun! Passive all the way through the night on my LM II 2 GS112 rig. The LM was totally flat. All changes throughout the night were handled on the bass. The versatility in a mix, even passive, was greater than I had detected noodling around the house-which was quite versatile even then. I had a blast tweaking the bass and treble controls even mid song to dial in what I was looking for. Absolutely HUGE bottom. I loved the way that the tone controls interacted with one another-no reason to dime them all the time-although on several tunes, that setting yielded what I was looking for at the particular time. I could tell, that should I choose the active side, there is a large palette of tones to be had there as well.
Other issues-the D'Addario XLs that I love to hate...actually have lasted pretty well and sounded just fine. No, I am not staying with them...they have just done better for me this time and I had to say something 'nice' rather than trashing them as I usually do, lol!
The neck. I like thin (Jazz-type) necks. My Peavey necks are fine, as was the 'thin' neck on my Precision. The neck on my SB-2 is perfect. I wasn't so sure I'd like the L2000 Tribute neck at the end of the night. It was a non-issue. Period. Even with my small hands, it stayed comfortable all night long. I can now lay that to rest. No need to contemplate a neck change-even if I could.
