Question Tribby L2k Neck Question

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking of splurging and buying myself a Tribute L2k as a college grad gift when I graduate in December. I really want to play one before I buy one, but the closest dealer is a 2 hour drive from here and (as far as I know) they only stock them by special order. So it looks like I'll be watching the TB Classifieds!

As far as sound goes I've watched every youtube vid I could find and have fallen in love with the sound of these basses, my only problem is the neck. I have wide hands but really short fingers and I wonder if the 1 3/4" nut width would be comfortable for my hands. Are there any necks on more "popular" brands that would compare well with the Tributes to give me an idea of the size? I have access to countless Fenders, Ibanez, Godin, Washburn, some Warwicks, Epiphone/Gibson but no G&Ls, Lakland or EBMM.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

worst case scenario, I'll grab a SBMM SB14 to hold me over until I can afford a USA L2k with a #8 neck.

Thanks guys.

The neck is somewhat similar to a p-bass. I just bought a L-2000 tribby in May and have decided to sell it, as I really don't need it. (have 4 already). Blueburst w/rosewood board.
Shoot me a PM if interested. $475 Shipped continental US. Paid $650 new.

Gotta agree, the neck is an awfull lot like a Fender P neck, in my opinion.

I bought an L2500 recently here on TB and was worried about the neck size as well (and didnt have a chance to play one beforehand either) I dont have huge hands, just average, but I have had no issues whatsoever. Its very comfortable and I can reach everything easily.

hmm...well, most P necks I've played are fine but others I've played are just a little too much for my hands. I've got some time before I'll be buying it so maybe I'll try to find one at a GC in Buffalo when I'm there Labour Day weekend.

thanks for the responses guys.
