Tribute 2500 Treble pot question

Sign in to disble this ad
I've bought my Tribute L2500 ages ago now and i just realise this today when i playing around with it.

My favourite setting on the bass is neck pickup, serial and passive mode.

I usually have the bass max and roll off all the treble.

That sound great to me and i can get all sort of sound and it cut nicely too.

So i decide to put abit of treble on today to add some flavor to the tone, then i realise when my treble on dial in, my D and G string became muddy and clanky type of tone. So i roll all the treble off again and the sound on the D and G sound lively and growly again.

The treble tone didn't make my high sound clear. Just want to know have anyone experience this before.

Yeah, I've experienced the same on my MIA L-2500. While I never really use the neck pickup soloed (just toying with it from time to time), I find its sound rather useless with the treble fully on. I have to roll the treble off by about 20-25% to get something more or less satisfying.

I have to wonder about the EQ settings on the amp for you guys as I didn't have anything like your experience with any of the L series basses I've had - that's has been quite a few ... are you sure you're in passive mode ? The preamp with treble boost is nothing but annoying to me - a completely useless sound for my uses ...

Realize that the Bass and Treble controls on the L series are passive, cut only. I find that about 75% up for each was a good place to start. With the amp more of less flat, play and EQ the amp to suit. Use the onboard controls to make subtle adjustments. You ought to be able to dial things in pretty quickly that way.

My fav L series sounds are Passive, both pickups or bridge pickup, parallel mode and minor variations on that 75% up setting. On mine, I pulled the G&L electronics out and installed and Audere 3ZB. I have the z-mode instead of the pickup selector, the other 2 switches are Parallel coils, Single Coil and Series Coils for each pickup. The rotary controls are Volume, Mid Stacked on Blend, Treble stacked on Bass. So it look's pretty close to stock - other than the 1/8th" hole on the side, near the jack for the battery indicator. The sound is amazing... The MFD humbuckers and the Audere are a fantastic combination.
