Question Tribute L-2500 Stock Strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a near new Indonesian Tribute L-2500 off Fleabay! Should arrive next week.

Can someone tell me what strings come on it stock? Haven't been able to find anything on the G&L website or anywhere else stating this info. I like to know what comes on my basses stock, in case I like them.

TIA!

D'Addario 170 something-or-others, as I recall.

But I'll tell you what - Dunlop mediums sound great.

I don't have a L-2500, but I'll agree that the Dunlop strings sound great. They have a wonderful, old school(ish) sound that seems to bring out a woody character in the basses I have them on. I put them on my ash P-Bass and on my L-1000. They seem to be pretty long lasting, as well.

The Tributes come with D'Addario EXL170-5SL Super Long Scale 45-130. You must get the super-longs to string through the body. Don't string through the top of the bridge on this model, it's only held down with two screws.

The D'Addario's sound OK, as did the SIT from a few years back, but I'm much happier with the DR Sunbeams I put on my L2500 and L2000. Just personal preference...

+1

Very good point. You'd think I'd remember that....

Very definitely string thru-body unless you've done the bolt-down bridge mod. That means that the Dunlops won't work, as they're not long enough for thru-body.

Anyone could provide a picture of thru-body version of L-2500?
