I REALLY like the sound of series pickups with the capacitors wired in. Series w/o caps [to me] sounds like parallel mode but with more mids in the mix (which I like). I may never use actual Parallel mode again. I disconnected the caps to eliminate hum. But now after DAVEPLAYSBASS chimed in to one of my questions about caps & associated hum, I rewired the caps in place but wired in the bridge pickup cap to the selector switch to eliminate the hum when both picklups are on.

Then I had a thought...I'd like the caps to be switchable, so I added a switch. I wanted a DPST mini toggle, but all I had was a DPDT and Radio Shack only had a SPST. So I installed what I had; and with that I sort of got a bonus...with both pups on, the added switch would give me: DOWN position - 2 caps on. UP position - 2 caps off. MID position, one on, one off. I wired it to give me the bridge pup with cap, neck pup w/o cap. I really like the sound of it, gives a growl from the bridge pup with a smoother tone from the neck pup with no cap. Sounds interesting.

I may wind up doing a single coil/series setup and get rid of parallel altogether. But I may have a pro do that one...
