I just picked up a used L1000. It is from 1984. I have a question about the trussrod's used in these basses. Do G&L's use hex adjusted trussrods, similar to those in Fenders? Because it looks like my bolt is completely stripped, and if so I'll need to have it cut and get a new one threaded on.
A picture for reference:

If it were me, I'd buy a left handed easy-out for the size of the remaining hole, and remove the stripped nut, call G&L and get a new one.

Also looks like there is no rod in there......
Someone may have over adjusted and broke the rod with the bullet....
I don't know without looking at it myself, but it looks like you have to repair a truss rod.

If so, you beat me by about a minute! Whether it's that one or not, good luck with it. I'd love to pick up an L-1000 one of these days.

Scott | The truss adjustment on all G&L's is at the top.
