Question Trying to ID a Bass...

Sign in to disble this ad
I am trying to identify the bass I have but haven't been able to do so yet. I know that it was bought through either Sears, Montgomery Ward, or JC Penney in the late 80s (I can't remember which). It is a double cutaway strat-style. It has both P and J style pickups, 2 volume knobs, 1 tone knob, and the jack is on the face. This is all covered by a plastic pick guard. The neck is a 4 bolt model with a micro-tilt. The truss rod is adjustable from the headstock end, there is no cover for the truss rod. The face of the headstock is painted the same black as the body and lacks any kind of logo. The headstock looks like an SB-1 (no pointy bit on the opposite side from the tuning knobs).

Did G&L make or license bass guitars for either Sears, Montgomery Ward, or JC Penney?

I will see if I can post a picture later, if it would help.

Harmony was a name that came out through Sears Back then. That would be my best guess with no photo etc.

Pics are always good, but no. G&L has never OEM'd for anyone.

Here is the URL for the pics of the bass:

The odd thing is that I have a G&L user's manual (the same one you can dl on the website that shows how to adjust the microtilt) but I have only ever owned this bass.

Since no one seems to think it is a G&L, I've posted this to the general forum http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showth...48#post6810948

Please reply there, if constructive.
