Question value of 1985 El Toro? (not a For Sale post)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

I have a 1985 (according to serial number list) trans blue El Toro in very good condition. It has a drop D tuner, not sure if that is factory or not. I recently stopped playing and another bassist has expressed interest in buying it, but I have no clue as to its current value. I paid about $450 for it in 2001. How much should I ask for it now?

This is NOT a veiled for sale post. This guy really wants to buy it and I really need to know. Thanks much for your help.

Search E-bay for completed auctions.

Typically they go $700+

The drop D tuner would not be stock, but wouldn't likely kill the value all that much.

Also, in the first year of production, this bass was made in both passive and active versions. If yours is an '85, it's active, but it's useful to know there are two varieties out there when you're comparing prices. There seems to be more of a market for the active model (although the passive is more of a rarity from a collector's standpoint).
