I only found out they were offering the Tribute L2000 in a lefty configuration very recently and when I saw it I knew it was time to save some money. I tried a righty model model at a Guitar Center because they didnt have a lefty in stock. I had to play it upside down (which Im getting quite used to ) and the sound was great. I played it through an Ampeg combo which Im sure did it some justice. I cant say much for the overall playing feel because of the configuration but the neck was nice and straight and quite comfortable. I cant wait to mess with the electronics It should be here any day now Im very much looking forward to it. I will try to post pics. Anyone else have good experiences with this bass? |
Spectacular bass! I used to own an L2000 Tribute - now I've got the L2500 Tribute. Great build quality, comfortable play, well balanced, and the sound!
What do you plan on doing with the wiring? I replaced the series/parallel switch with an outer coils/parallel/inner coils switch and it's great! I never used the series setting because I like more clarity and if I want to darken the sound or add more mids I can do that on my preamp. I still have the parallel options but now I can also solo each coil. The outer neck, inner neck, and inner bridge coils each have a great sound to them and are useful in different situations. The soundguy at my church prefers the inner neck coil because he likes the punch. The outer coils together have a Jazz Bass sound and the inner coils together are like adding another humbucker in between the pickups.
I've got Sadowsky flatwound strings on it and they're really nice. They tend to tone down some of the brightness and give a great fundamental sound with nice depth of character, and they feel great!
I'm also playing it through a Hartke VXL Bass Attack pedal which is a great low-cost alternative to a Sansamp Bass Driver. I got mine used for $40 shipped here on TB and it allows me to add tubey warmth to my sound and to scoop the mids with the Hartke shape knob.
Enjoy the bass!! Welcome to the club!
