Yep... What kind of music do you play? for fun? maybe you are payed for?
What kind of band you play with? How many guys (girls)?
Where do you play? on stage? studio? fest.? or club (bar)? or other place? (poolside party or ....)
I just want to know what kind of bassplayers use G&L and how they use it in their own life/place.
I begin... i 'm playing a trib L2.5K
I play in trio rock band as bassist/lead signer, with real drummer and a guitarist. This is my #1 band.We play in many bar near my home town.
Also play in a blues band witH 2 guitarists,1 drummer, harmonica player, keyboard player and girl lead signer. We play big stage and fest.
Then i also play in a AC/DC tribute with also 2 guitarists , 1 drummer and a lead signer( Bon Scott style signer), and that gave us a big bunch of fun everytime we play ( always big stage as first part-of...and big party, i'm 45 years old and it keep me young like a schoolboy).
Thanks for shearing a bit of your experiences.
Francis

Blues and Classic Rock

I have 3 G&L's from the early 80's: SB-2, L-1000 and L-2000, all strung with flats. Any of these would work for what your doing.

I'm member of 3 bands.
I play couple of music styles, mostly it's rock in different waves - from unformat alternative-d'n'b-core till commercial soft pop-funk-rock.
I got MIA G&L L-2500 2 weeks ago, i have Warwick Corvette $$ besides.
But G&L is amazing instrument, it's such that i want. Sound so solid...so bright.
I specially ordered this bass at US and so happy, hear no any similar bass sound.

I play in a folk rock style band (Bob Dylan/Neil Young/Soul/Chanson with german lyrics) and in a pop-rock band (imagine George Michael goes U2 and Coldplay). I'm using my G&Ls and my P-Basses in both two bands.

Before that I played for 10 years in a alternative-rock band with a female singer until 2007. We did 11 CD's with that band.

Hey, it's the style of our music or the musical concept, but certainly not the level.

Here's the bands:

http://www.tftt.de
http://www.vlenz.de
http://www.myspace.com/achimwendlingband

But we're working on it.

With the ,,folk rock band'' we're just doing some recordings, but they are not finished yet.

Thanks for your interest.

Gruesse, Pablo

I play in a "progressive heavy metal/pop band" (for lack of a better term) and a straight up sloooooow doomy metal band with my G&L L2000e and a Darkstar'd and Audere'd 70s Ibanez Jazz bass (oddly enough- with the Darkstars and Audere this Ibanez has taken front seat over nearly a dozen basses (including 3 other G&Ls) I've had in the last year that cost me twice as much, though the L2000e is pretty much head to head with it at the moment. The first time I've ever had 2 basses that I played almost equally).

I can't imagine not having at least one G&L L-series bass anymore... I'll probably get another L-1000 when I find the right one (I've really been missing the one I had shortly- despite generally being a 2 pickup kinda guy).

Everything except both kinds. (start the car!)

Jazz ensembles throughout college, rock in the '90s, worship, folk-rock, classical, bluegrass (I'm terrible at it), funk for a little while (James Brown meets Terence Trent D'Arby), orchestral pit work, but no poolside parties (yet). My ASAT and SB-2 have seen me through them all.

I'm exclusively a rock player, and have played everything from R.E.M. type "indie" rock to punk and old school metal, mostly originals. My last band was, for lack of a better term, "modern" rock, with heavy keys, vocal harmonies, and two loud guitars with lots of effects. Some of it was a little like Radiohead. I used my L-1500 to very good effect in that band. Many tracks had bass intros around the 12th fret, and the L-1500 was excellent for those. It was crystal clear up there, and worked great with delay.

Now I'm in a "throwback" rock band. The material is original, but some of it could have been written in 1968. It draws on psychedelia, Stooges-style minimalistic heaviness, and other things. The drummer and I are inserting some reggae grooves here and there. The L-1500 isn't as good for this, but my SB-2 is in heavy rotation along with my Fenders.

That's what i like from my trib. 2500. for now i play rock old and new, sometimes blues and the two pup config. gave me more sound possibility than my old 70 p bass that i use to play old Ac/DC stuff (but for now ac/dc is more ebmm sounded).
Nice to meet you Nedmundo.

Preferred bass? Lately it's been my fretless L2k w/ Moses neck.

Preferred music? Rock: Zeppelin/Kravitz/STP is right up my alley.
