What neck do I want?

One of the best necks I ever played was on a 70's Jazz. It had the narrow nut width, but more meat front-to-back than newer Jazz necks.

So: which G&L neck comes close to this? Whenever someone talks about a "Jazz-like" neck any more, I usually cringe because I'm expecting a toothpick.

I think either the #6 or #8 are going to be a little meatier than a modern Jazz. Your best bet might be to try out a newer SB-2, JB-2, or ASATs in your area since those come with the #8 neck standard. It'll give you a good idea.

One caveat is don't try the Tributes. They have skinny necks. The USA are more meaty.
