What will a Trib 2500 offer.....

that other basses won't. I have not had the chance to play a G&L, but heard one on youtube and was very impressed. I had been considering a Schecter Stilletto 5r, Spector Legend 5, or MM Sub 5....so tell me G&L lovers...why should I bite on the Tribbie....btw, I'm leaning G&L at "this" moment.

I have had a MM Cutlass 1, and a Modulus Quantum 6. I loved the MM, and did not care for the Modulus.

I like a modern, punchy, aggressive "rock" tone...hard to describe the tone in my head, but the tube clip I heard of the Tribbie was impressive. Thanks guys.

I think asking if you should get a G&L in a forum dedicated to G&L is like asking Ben and Jerry if you should buy their ice cream. If you like the sound of it then get one. Simple as that.

I guess I was looking for a thoughtful discussion of tone and how other G&L owners would describe the tone of the Tribute as opposed to the other models i mentioned. Hope that wasn't too much to ask.

HI IMHO trib2.5k is a great bass . Lot of punch (more than all other i heard and played before) but that's a monster of possibilyties and the mfd's pups have a lot of output and again more than others bass. The sound is pretty close as the USA 2500 except for wood quality and wood match. Lot of low end , punchy mid and clear highs. You can switch from parallel to serie wiring in a flick and that's the same way for active or passive mode..... it will give lot of sounds . That's my main bass for 4 years now and the price for trib against usa model gave me the reason to bought a trib. Never regret that deal.

Francis

It sounds like the L2500 Trib would fit the bill for you. The other basses you mentioned are decent, but the L2500 Trib will outshine them all. The pickups are about the highest output pups you can find and they give a very nice growl. With the stock setup you have 18 different pickup combinations that you can quickly swith between. With the series/parallel switch you can go from transparent and Jazz like to thick and P like in a snap.

...and IMHO, adding Dave's Single Coil Mod is the icing on the cake.
