Where can I find this SB-2?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys, I've been reading on the boards for quite a long time now but this is my first post. I've decided to get a better bass now that I've been playing for a good few years. I've done my research and have decided to buy a G&L SB-2 (Don't mind a Tribute either) after playing it at my local store.

But I have one problem, the bass player from my favorite band uses one in this color and I've been having a hard time finding any site that has a chance of carrying it. I really like the colorway.

Here are some pics.

Is the color really Japan only? Am I able to find this color anywhere online in the US?

Any help would be highly appreciated, thank you!

Hmmm interesting, regarding your second link - is it an e-store? Do they sell them new? These SB-2s all have 2 Volume + 1 Tone control in specs!

This colour is called Silver Metal Flake:

The best chance to get your hand on one of those is to custom-order an SB-2 through a dealer (bassnw.com, guitarmannyc.com or Buffalo Brothers). Apart from the finish, you can also specify other options, like the neck profile, woods used etc.:

The Japanese Premium models are for sale in Japan only, and are between the Indonesian Tribute and the USA models price-wise. As far as I know, they all come with 2xVol and 1xTone controls from the factory.

USA G&L, and Tributes in the USA come with vol/vol only.

I've seen plenty modified to vol/vol/tone; but AFAIK, this was never done at the factory.
