Hi,
I'd like to know, what is/are your sound(s) when playing with your band(s).
My favourite standard sound, that works pretty well in two bands is:
Passive
Parallel
Neck-PU
Volume 100%
Treble 80%
Bass 80%
My bands are Pop-Rock and Folk-Rock. Im using GHS Bass Boomers 45-105er strings.
Gruesse, Pablo

Dead LaBella flatwounds
Homemade foam rubber mute
Just as God intended.

Switch to series for heavier stuff, reggae, etc. Sometimes roll off treble 20% if finger noise is too noticeable.
My playing is in a blues/R&B group. We're usually in muddy rooms with boomy drums, so that edge I get from the preamp is just the trick.
Mine's actually a Tribute L-2500, but the same settings make sense for an L-2000. |

| | | | i'm all over the place with settings which is why I like the L2000. Instead of switching basses, with a couple of changes on board, I can change the tone of the bass. I like reading about people's setting cuz I'll try them myself. generally though my most used settings are: when I need an old school P bass sound: passive, neck pu, bass boost (middle throggle), or active,
when I need a driving tone: both pick ups (sometimes treble boost for funkier stuff) |

| Freddels, what kind of music do you play? Reggae, Drum&Bass ?

Gruesse, Pablo | Nope! Mostly jazz and blues. I'm coming from playing URB and I don't like treble. I use TI flats too. |

Only adjust volume when switching from parallel to serie.
Play in a rock band, blues band and a acdc tribute band

Of course the POS Chromes I put on there aren't helping... Once again, I get a dead friggin' string from D'Addario (what do they do, randomly pull a string and stuff it up someones tail so it will sound like crap?). I really need to get a set of TI JazzRounds on it.
Anyway, when I'm diggin' my L2000, I usually run Both pups, series, passive, with the treble rolled off to about 80/90%. |

For many many years I was not very into tweaking the tone, if I got something I liked, I just went. For the most part, I set my L2000 to active, parallel, and every knob up--with whatever round wounds were cheapest at the time. I liked the "hi-fi" sound. However, I bought an SX jazz a year or so ago and just fell in love with that passive, "jazz tone" (I put flats on that bass).
The other day, for really the first time in a long time, I really played with the L2000 and lo and behold, I'm all about the passive, series settings now, with some roll-off on the tone controls and volume. I'm now curious about putting some flats on it. But, I wonder if that would inhibit the flexibility of the bass--meaning, will I still be able to get that "hi-fi" tone if I want? |

Don't remember any bass that does behave like this so extremely...

There's no need for a pedal to get tonal variety. Bright, deep, punchy, smoother...all dialed in on the axe rather than the amp.
My favorite is using parallel/neck/active and then switching to series/neck/active when I need more beef...reggae, rockers, big endings. Sort of like a better tempered OMG switch on the L1K. |

Parallel
Bass at full
Treble at half
Volume at about 80%
Passive
TI Jazz Flats
If I'm looking for more growl on this one I just active the eq on my ashdown, basically crank the treble and high mids, low mids at about 1 oclock and bass at 4 oclock
If I'm feeling spicy I'll turn off the amp eq and go
Both pups
Series
bass at 60%
treble at 75%
Volume at full
passive to active to active treble just depending how I feel.

Still punchy as hell!

Sounds like "ker-THWACK"!**
