I was wondering is my setup correctly or is the string that causing the problem.

The bass play nicely as in string height, pickup height etc.

But i find it the E string is not very balance compare to the A string onwards.

Also the G and A note on the E string 3rd and 5th fret is not very alive sounding. It sound dead compare to notes on the same string.

I got a set of new strings but not put them in yet. so was wondering shell i do a setup on the bass and change the string?

The individual polls on the pups are adjustable. I'd start there.

+1. That's one of the beautys of the MFD pickups-you can very easily balance the output of each string. String selection certainly plays a part, but the MFD design accommodates all of them.

I actually missed this part on my first read-my bad. If your fretted notes at certain positions are deader sounding than the notes around them...first, put on new strings and see if it helps. You could have a 'dead' spot on the neck-but, honestly, most I have encountered are at about the fifth to seventh fret on the G string-not the E...but what do I know, lol! New strings can help mask a dead spot, but not really eliminate it. Also check to see that the neck bolts are tight-looseness at the neck joint can exacerbate a 'dead' spot. Also check the slot cuts on your nut (don't go there!). Is the E string sitting all the way to the bottom of the cut? Do the strings slide easily throught the slots in the nut without slop? Are the strings wound so there is a downward pressure at the break angle of the nut?

Just looking for reasons...

Good luck!

Kim

Problem solve and i was being silly. Everything was alright except the strings lol

I forgot still got the stock strings on the bass. The crap and dead string makes the bass sound bad, uneven sound and dead notes.

Change them today with a set of stainless Elite and it sound amazing now.

Thanks for the info anyway
