| Sometimes the difference is barely anything, sometimes it's almost halved. What for certain though is you should probably be worrying more about what cabs you run together, cos that could potentially lose you more usable volume then anything.
Watt ratings don't really mean all that much anyway, most speaker companies don't rate their cabs in a very practical way, for example the cheap rubbish you can get for car audio where a single subwoofer is apparently "1000W" or something like that, but a 450W Kappalite in a decent box would destroy it in terms of bass and output. Basically the whole thing is alot more complicated then how many watts something is. What is straightforward is you can use any cab(s) with any head as long as the impedance matches and you don't crank the volume/bass more then the cab(s) can take.
Ideally you'd want the goldline to have a bi-amp feature so you could use the 18 for all your low end (not that cabs with a bigger driver are inherently bassier but I assume this is the case with this cab) and get something else for top and mid, but unfortunately it doesn't.
In the long term to get a clean sound you'd be better off either getting another cab that will do your full spectrum, or if you like your ampeg more then your GK then you might need to get yourself an amp which will bi-amp. Unless the 18 cab has enough mid and top for you which it may well, in which case you'll get the best sound looking for another one of them.
